never knew strangers in the rain would make me thankful for what ii dont have

yesterday after work i was standing outside, in the rain, waiting on the twenty to come. i was cool, it wasnt really cold, i had a hood on my coat and it wasn’t coming down too hard so i wasnt really too mad that the bus was late. as i’m standing here. minding my business, waiting patiently, this lady walks up to me and puts her umbrella over my head. she has this big huge smile on her face and she says hi, what bus are you waiting on?? i tell her that i am getting on the twenty and she insists that she wait with me so i wont get wet. mind you, this lady could have gotten on any of the three busses that passed us by in order to get to her car but she stayed there and waited. as we are waiting for the bus she started talking about her family. she was telling me about her father and the type of person that he was. for the first time in my entire life i was grateful to God to not have a father in my life. i never thought i would say that. well, i never thought i would meet this lady on a rainy wednesday evening either. she was a pretty lady, nice hair, big smile, outfit was on point and she spoke of God so wonderfully…as if He was nothing but a close friend. i wondered for a second what made her stop at me. there were others at that stop, others that i know she passed on her way to the stop…so what made her stop there?? i dont know her name, i will probably never see her again, but one thing is sure…i will forever remember her story because its that story that has made me thankful for what i do not have.

Stopped in from CordieB’s blog. Like what you said about God being a close friend, sounds like God stopped in to keep you out of the rain too!

    Namaste.
